What is Athletic Therapy?
Athletic Therapy focuses on assessing and rehabilitating injuries and concerns involving muscles, bones and joints. It combines active rehabilitation with hands-on techniques when appropriate, with the goal of helping you return to your usual activities.
Move with more ease
Work on the mobility and movement patterns needed for reaching, bending, walking and daily tasks.
Build useful strength
Practise exercises chosen for your needs, then progress them as your capacity and confidence improve.
Return to what you enjoy
Set practical goals for work, recreation, fitness or sport, and build a plan around them.
Meet your practitioner
Meet Jessica: RMT, Athletic Therapist
and Bachelor of Kinesiology graduate.
Jessica brings together her background in massage therapy, Athletic Therapy and kinesiology—the study of human movement—to support an individualized approach to your care.
That means your appointment can be more than time on a massage table. Depending on your assessment and goals, it may include movement coaching, strengthening, mobility exercises, hands-on care and a manageable home program.
Tell Jessica what you want to get back to. Your plan starts with your needs, your current abilities and the activities that make up your day.
Everyday people. Everyday goals.
Who might benefit?
Busy bodies
People whose work, desk time, repetitive tasks or caregiving demands are affecting how comfortably they move.
Returning movers
People rebuilding activity after an injury, time away from exercise or a change in physical capacity.
Active lives
Walkers, gardeners, dancers, gym-goers and athletes who want support with a movement concern or a return to activity.
Your assessment helps determine whether Athletic Therapy is appropriate or another provider would better meet your needs.

Check your plan before you book
- Does your plan specifically cover Athletic Therapy?
- Is Jessica eligible as a provider under your plan?
- What amount, visit limits or shared maximums apply?
- Do you need a referral, and how do you submit the receipt?
Coverage depends on your individual plan. AT and massage therapy are distinct services. Your appointment and receipt must accurately reflect the care provided; an ordinary massage visit cannot simply be relabelled as Athletic Therapy. Our team can help you choose the appropriate appointment type, and your insurer confirms reimbursement eligibility.
Connected rehabilitation
How does AT fit alongside physiotherapy?
Athletic Therapists bring assessment, exercise and rehabilitation skills to a collaborative team. Those skills can also be valuable in a physiotherapist assistant role, where care is directed and supervised by a physiotherapist.
Independent Athletic Therapy and physiotherapist-directed assistant care are different arrangements. If a shared plan would help, ask our team what is available. Any physiotherapy assistant involvement requires an appropriate physiotherapist-led plan and supervision; coverage must be checked separately.
A few common questions
Good questions before you begin.
Do I need to be sporty or fit?
No. Your goals may be everyday activities, returning to exercise or participating in sport. Your starting point guides your plan.
Is Athletic Therapy the same as personal training?
AT is focused on injury assessment and rehabilitation. Exercise may be part of treatment, but it is chosen around your assessed concerns and recovery goals rather than a general fitness workout.
Can I book with Jessica even if I usually see her for massage?
Yes. Let us know you are interested in Athletic Therapy. Jessica can assess your needs and discuss which service is appropriate. Check any AT coverage before attending.
Will every session include massage?
No. An AT session may focus mainly on mobility, strengthening and active rehabilitation. Hands-on techniques may be included where appropriate, with your consent.
Do I need a doctor’s referral?
Contact us about booking requirements. Your insurer may require a referral for reimbursement, so check your plan before your visit.
What are the fees and appointment lengths?
