Registered Massage Therapist.
Founder. Movement educator.
Behind StoneRMT is a practitioner who knows what recovery can mean—and an owner who has spent years turning that experience into a place where people feel heard, supported, and cared for.
Recovery gave Mellissa a personal understanding of how much it matters to feel listened to—and to have something meaningful to work toward.
A serious cliff-diving accident in Greece changed Mellissa’s life. Her own recovery, supported by massage, movement, and strengthening, helped shape the direction of her career and the kind of practitioner she wanted to become.
Mellissa danced competitively from ages 7 to 25, building a lifelong connection to movement and an appreciation for what it asks of the body. Experiencing injury brought a different perspective: the uncertainty of recovery, the value of support, and the importance of getting back to the things that make life feel like your own.
Mellissa became a Registered Massage Therapist on February 12, 2012. Her work has grown through hands-on practice, continued learning, and the everyday conversations that help her understand what matters to each person in her care.
That experience remains part of StoneRMT’s foundation: listen carefully, explain the plan, and keep the purpose of care in view.
Mellissa has a particular passion for postural correction, rehabilitation, and strengthening. She brings a thorough, individual approach to treatment, with your history, comfort, goals, and response helping shape the plan.

Mellissa offers medical acupuncture within her RMT practice, alongside training in cupping, Thai massage, and Indian Head Massage. Treatment options are discussed in relation to your needs, comfort, and consent.
Mellissa reviews how you respond, discusses appropriate homecare, and adjusts the plan. When another practitioner or approach could help, that conversation belongs in your care.
From ages 7 to 25, competitive dance was a major part of Mellissa’s life. Her background spans ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, modern, West African, and Caribbean dance. That experience continues to inform her interest in posture, rehabilitation, and strengthening—and the Pilates, fitness, and PerFIT work she brings to StoneRMT.
StoneRMT grew from Mellissa’s work as a practitioner and her determination to create a clinic of her own. Building it has meant caring for patients while also shaping the space, the team, and the standards behind their experience.
The clinic has grown. Her involvement remains personal.
For years, Mellissa carried the practice as its sole massage therapist. The relationships built in that time, and the work of running a small business alongside clinical care, are part of the foundation the clinic stands on today.
Her early experiences working in clinics clarified what she wanted to build: a space where patients feel heard, and employees and practitioners are treated with kindness, dignity, and respect. A place where people have a voice.
Through StoneRMT and the PerFIT Fitness & Rehab Studio, Mellissa has brought treatment and movement into the same setting. As the clinic has expanded to include other practitioners and services, she continues to shape its direction, support the team, and keep purposeful care at its centre.
A personal recovery became a professional calling. A practice became a clinic with room to grow.
Mellissa’s registration marks the start of her career as a Registered Massage Therapist.
StoneRMT operated at its previous location as a sole proprietorship, growing through Mellissa’s clinical work and the relationships she built.
The practice moved to its current home at 161 King Street East, creating space for the next chapter.
The business incorporated, continuing the work Mellissa had already spent years building.
Massage therapy, movement, physiotherapy, athletic therapy, and nutrition & wellness contribute to the clinic’s expanding range of care.
StoneRMT was nominated for the 2027 Canadian Choice Award in Massage Therapy—a milestone in the clinic’s story.
Mellissa has travelled extensively, and exploring new places remains one of her passions. Alongside her years in competitive dance, those experiences are part of the life she brings to her work as a practitioner and business owner.
Outside the clinic, she also enjoys writing her novel, long walks, music, volleyball, darts, and dancing. Creativity, curiosity, and connection remain part of her story.
